It's a messaging thing, just like Bush and Rumsfeld's war. There may be interesting bits in it (along with the unrealistic ones), but it's being treated as a piece of perception-modifying propaganda just as was the original sale of the war.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5205572975473716555.post-26880615610030059042006-12-13T07:20:00.000-08:002006-12-13T07:20:00.000-08:00thot this might be of interest, too: latest NYT st...thot this might be of interest, too: latest NYT story (Dec. 12) on proposal that Iraq military take the lead in providing Baghdad security:

Excerpt: "The plan calls for pulling back most American troops from central Baghdad and redefining their mission so they concentrate primarily on fighting the forces said to be backed by Al Qaeda and the Sunni-based insurgent organizations, leaving the effort to quell sectarian tensions within the capital to the government’s largely Shiite forces.

Under the plan, the government would have direct command of the two Iraqi divisions in the Baghdad area in the next several months — a timeline that had been pressed by the Iraqis but that the American military has viewed as overly optimistic.

The divisions would be reinforced by two largely Kurdish brigades that are to be sent from Sulaimaniya and Erbil, in northern Iraq. That would amount to several thousand more troops. The training and equipping of the forces would be expedited, Mr. Rubaie said."

Is this news to Kurdistan? How do/will people feel about their boys heading down in an attempt to quell the chaos there?Aimee M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03476897549590889700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5205572975473716555.post-23072137162934287142006-12-12T17:55:00.000-08:002006-12-12T17:55:00.000-08:00Tiare I love your articles they are great.
